This model of Fender amplifiers was in the backline of almost every touring group in the late ‘60s. Unlike some other Fender blackface amps, very few of the Showman model remained in "mint" condition. These amps were not purchased to sit in the music room, they were players' amps and were hauled around and played. The Showman was Fender’s most powerful piggyback amp, and both the amp and cab were virtually indestructible. The JBL D130F speaker mounted on a tone ring could handle just about anything you could pump through it. I found this amp particularly well-suited to my Rickenbacker 360-12 string, with lots of clean headroom. The Showman was and is also widely used as a bass amp. OH
