Here’s a 4001 that has been played and also has the new style rectangular bridge pickup surround that replaced the “tapered tail” surround on the 4000/1 models in late 1968. The headstock has a slight forward lean as shown in the last two photos, but the neck is straight. Although showing playing wear, this bass plays well and sounds great.
