Issued in May 1961 (serial # AE), this guitar is unique in that: 1) it is the earliest known example exhibiting the “New Capri” body style, 2) it is one of the few ‘New Capri’ non-deluxe model 330s produced, 3) it was among the first Ricks to sport the 5th “blend” knob, and 4) it has a factory-bound neck, not standard on the 330 model. This guitar is depicted and discussed on pages 144-147 of the Rickenbacker: Pioneers of the Electric Guitar (2023), along with several other New Capri models shown on this website. Rare and near-mint with flamed maple 3-piece neck and trapeze tailpiece, this guitar is all original with its OHSC.
