This guitar adds the herringbone trim to the standard Martin D-28, which is a throwback to the pre-War D-28 construction with Sitka spruce top and rosewood back and sides. I acquired this guitar after taking it off the wall in the 'players room' which used to adjoin the Martin factory. I liked the resonant sound so much I asked if I could purchase it right then and there. I was informed that Martin doesn't sell guitars from the factory and was directed to the Nazareth Music Center just down the street, placed an order for that specific guitar, and went home with it a few days later.
